Opened a Watchtower Today!

not considering the actual message, here is what hit me, hard:.
the font is larger than that used by any secular publication that one would consider intellectual.. the language is so basic that it would bore the educated but would be embraced by those who were "simple" or perhaps mentally challenged.it alsowould not promote thinking as their was so little substance.. i then checked an awake and it is much the same.

by bobld inpledge forms will be issued to all brothers & sisters requesting for donations for k.h.,assembly halls,reno of k.h.etc.they did give some poor excuse as why this was necessary.my guess is that the brothers who made interest free loans to the wbts are asking for these loans back because of all the layoffs and the down turn in the economy.. bob.

I had a cong secretary once tell me that whatever the number they get from the survey, the actual donations afterward are half or less than what was pledged. I found that very funny.

ATJ, although I usually enjoy your posts, I think it is time for your meds. While you have been on here for several years and have had time to think/ read about this many times, other newer ones may be reading about these things for the first time. I was in for 28 years and many of the threads contain things that I had never read about until reading COC. Please be patient with us newer ones, it may be more of the same for you, but may be mind blowing for some of the newbies.
That being said, I do appreciate your posts, your candor with the elder you were and the man you have become. Please keep it up.

Advise about my mom.

She brought it up, take a shot. Like you said, ask her what the show said made them a cult, then ask her what she thinks about that information. Drop hints and hope she picks up on them. You might want to share Hassan's BITE model with her to identify a cult. If an organization wants to control: Behavior, Information, Thought, Emotions they are a cult, let her draw her own conclusions and let the doubts begin.
